Here is a another photo from the Richard Erbe collection showing an aerial view of Gatun Locks and town.  This was taken in February 1950.  What I like most of this photo is the old silver town of Gatun is still standing in the foreground and to the left of the locks. I am not sure when all those old buildings were finally torn down, but there were still some of the old building foundations there in the early 70's when I lived in Gatun.  How simple life was back then.
