I was going through my Edward Charles Schultz collection the other day
and though I would start posing some of that collection again.
This photo got my attention when I saw what these men were unloading
out of this box car. Dupont Dynamite!! As you can see on the left of
the photo Schultz or someone wrote "HANDLEING EXPLOSIVES BY THE
100 TONS" with the word Handling being spelled wrong. The
dynamite is just stacked up all over the place awaiting the laborers
to haul it off. Note the close proximity of the locomotive
pulling this box car. I wonder if the firebox in the
locomotive's cab is far enough away from this load. Only one hot
spark! Where is the Safety Officer?
