Here is the second photo in the Michael J. Carroll series from his early days in Panama.  I really love this photo with studying the faces and body language. The guys all have cigars.  What is the women  on the right hiding behind her.  Maybe she has a cigar too.

The hand writing on the back of this photo says: 

'House 9, Culebra C.Z. 1910 where we lived.  Belle left front, Mike center rear".

Belle is Mike's wife and who wrote the notes on all the photos in the collection.
