Photo of the Week
August 18, 2013

This week we have three photos that were sent in by Bob Dryja of his Grandfather in Panama - 1918.

Bob writes:

"I am attaching three pictures of my grandfather.  Albert Clagg was a mounted policeman on the Atlantic side in 1918. He is by a railroad track in this picture, but I do not know where exactly. The next picture shows him with his wife Mabel.  She sailed to the Canal Zone for their marriage. I do not know who is the little girl sitting on the horse.  I wonder if Canal Zone police rode horses generally during the canal construction?  The last picture shows Albert standing by his bee hives somewhere in the Canal Zone.  I remember people have a variety of hobbies and activities.  Albert evidently was a part of this tradition.  Who thinks of beekeepers being in the Canal Zone?"

It looks like all these photos were taken in Gatun.

As I have always said, I love the personal photos taken back in the day.

Thanks for sending in these great photo Bob.
