Photo of the Week
May 6, 2012

Continuing with photos from the French Construction Era with this great photo of Front Street and the rail road yard in Colon.  This photo must have been taken on a Sunday as everyone is all dressed up.  The majority of those in the photo are West Indians.  The building on the corner is the "Grand Hotel Universel".  I don't know what Front Street looks like today, but may of these buildings were still standing in the 1970's when I used to take my mother shopping in Colon.

The railroad yard has some interesting switches so that rolling stock can be juggled around.

The photo caption reads: No 246. Colon During the Flurishing French Times.

Next week is another super photo from Ron's collection.
