Continuing with the same collection of old photos taken in Gatun during the construction days and featuring people at work and play.
This week's photo is photo titled "Locomotive 311 & Dick Cal VII/30.". Locomotive photos are always a favorite. As the photo title states, this is Baldwin Locomotive
I.C.C. Class 301 - 340 that cost $11,,490 each and built in 1907. It
looks almost like Ole 299, but isn't. I can't tell if this is actually taken down in the Culebra Cut, but since most of
the other photos in the collection are taken in the Gatun area, I believe it was taken down in the excavated cut that would eventually be the Gatun Locks.
