Once again this week is another three photo series
continuing with the
construction of coffer dams that will separate the current canal
channel and the new Third Locks channel. T These photos were taken by CZ Images contributor Bill
Fall as well, but these were taken two months later while on another transit in
April 2011. As you can see they have come a long way since last
week's photos. They are actually driving large earth moving
equipment and beginning the fill process on the inside portion.
It appears they are dumping in loads of large rock for fill.
Photos below show what I believe is the head pin or anchor end (for a
lack of better words) that ties the coffer dam line into the an area
that is the part of south end of Pedro Miguel Locks. These dams are
very critical in the success of this project. It will be interesting
to see this project progress. Once again, thanks Bill for
