Photo of the Week
May 8, 2011

Once again this week is another three photo series continuing with the construction of coffer dams that will separate the current canal channel and the new Third Locks channel.  T  These photos were taken by CZ Images contributor Bill Fall as well, but these were taken two months later while on another transit in April 2011.  As you can see they have come a long way since last week's photos.  They are actually driving large earth moving equipment and beginning the fill process on the inside portion.  It appears they are dumping in loads of large rock for fill.  Photos below show what I believe is the head pin or anchor end (for a lack of better words) that ties the coffer dam line into the an area that is the part of south end of Pedro Miguel Locks. These dams are very critical in the success of this project. It will be interesting to see this project progress.  Once again, thanks Bill for sending these great photos in.
