We are going to switch over to new subject matter this week.  I was fortunate to find two really good photos taken on February 21, 1934 showing the construction of the town of Gatun.  With the events happening now with the dismantling of portions of Gatun, I thought these may be of interest.  The upper photos show removing and filling of earth to establish the new community's area.  The upper photo shows some of the older houses like the ones I showed in the past on Lighthouse Road.  You can see the newly construction cement school in the distance.  The lower photo shows the old houses being dismantled to make way for the new ones.
