Photo of the Week
March 14, 2010

This week's photo is a great aerial shot of Amador Road and Fort Amador.  This photo was taken in the mid 1930's and is part of what I will call the Moore collection that was sent to me a couple of years ago.  I thought this photo was most impressive showing all the houses along Amador Road that were mostly demolished in recent years with the road widening and clover leaf exit to Panama City being constructed.  The 15th Naval District housing has not been built yet nor the headquarters building.  There are large communication towers where the 15 Naval District Headquarters building was later built.  This is a great capture in time and will post a couple more aerials of Fort Amador in the next couple of weeks.  It is sad to see what this area looks like today.
