This week's photo is another great photo of workers from back in the
construction days of the Canal. These men were not diggers, but
railroad rolling stock maintenance men. I have several photo
images that someone sent me of the Balboa Industrial area, specifically
the Panama Railroad maintenance shops. This group of men are
standing behind an old wooden passenger car that was in the shop for
maintenance. We always think of the diggers, but there was a whole
army of other workers that helped make the Panama Canal a success.
There appears to be a child standing on the car's platform, but
unfortunately his/her head was cut out of the photo by the
photographer. What an interesting bunch of people.
Another
great capture in time.
