Photo of the Week
August 2,  2009

This week's photo is another from the Brown collection taken during the construction of the Balboa Dry Dock.  This photo is that of a Traveling Concrete Plant which was the brain child of Mr. J. A. Walker, superintendent in charge of the construction of the Balboa terminals.  Much of the terminals construction took place when the Balboa Dry Dock was constructed.  This photo was probably  that of a pier constructed adjacent to the dry dock.  The Traveling Concrete Plant is another great invention that was manufactured to facilitate work done by the Panama Canal.  What a wonderful enterprise our great early day fore fathers created.  Read this article out of The Canal Record about this piece of equipment.
