I recently had a wonderful contact with a David Hirtle.  David's father was the Reverend Ralph L. Hirtle who served the residents of Pedro Miguel in the late 1940's.  David sent me this old 35mm slide image of his dad Rev. Hirtle standing on the alter of the Pedro Miguel Union Church. This is one of the most priceless photos I have come across in my studies of our Canal Zone history.  David told me that he has many other 35mm slides taken by his father during this period. David is planning to send me all the slides to scan and preserve for historical purposes and of course post here on CZ Images.

I am not sure what time of year this photo was taken, but is shows a large photo of Jesus at prayer in the garden the night before his death.  There are Easter Lillis on the alter which makes me think that this photo was taken during Easter which is upon us in the next couple of weeks.

This is very exciting that we have the opportunity to scan and preserve photos that no one knew existed.  Thank God I started this web site so that these opportunities come to be.
