I just purchased this a old colorized post card last week.  When I saw it, I couldn't resist.  The card caption is "Negro family, Colon Panama".  I am not sure if this little shack is the home of these folks or just a shack on the property.  If it is their home...wow...times were pretty rough back during the construction days of the Panama Canal.  There is a cooking pot on the ground in behind the man towards the edge of the jungle.  That may have been the kitchen.
