This week's photo is certainly a historical one.  Shown in Pedro Miguel Locks is the Philippine Sea CV-47 on January 8, 1947 with 6 R4D's on her deck for Rear Admiral Byrd's Operation High Jump to Little America. (More Info)

This photo was taken by Clint Fewell who lived in Panama from 1944 to 1948. Clint said he lived most of the time in Pedro Miguel and worked for the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) and his wife worked for Pan American at Albrook field. The CAA handled all the communications for the airlines.  Clint is a frequent visitor of the Canal Zone Images web site and has sent me several great old photos that will be posted on a later date.
