Photo of the Week
June 6, 2004

To publish a photo that had connections with D-Day and events in the English Channel, I post this wonderful vintage photo of a 65' "Crash Boat" tied up at Cristobal Pier 9 in July 1953.  These boats were built during WWII for speed and were very fast.  Their initial mission was to rescue downed fliers between England and France during WWII. The were powered by two 12 cylinder gas engines.  This one ended up after the war as a 370th EASR support boat.

This photo was submitted by CZ Images contributor Herbert M . Jaggi, Jr.

God Bless all our military, past and present on this D-Day anniversary.
