Photo of the Week
April 20, 2003

With Easter time here, I thought this photo be fitting for the season.  I took this photo on my recent trip to Panama while visiting the old town of Porto Bello.  This is the famous Black Christ that saved the town from a Cholera epidemic many years ago. With this event, the Black Christ has been worshipped each year since then.  The church the statue stands in is equally impressive.  The life size statue is in a glass enclosure to protect it from the elements.  Each year a new robe is selected to clothe him.  There is a display in the old Porto Bello custom house where all the past robes can be seen.  They wouldn't let us take pictures in there.

May the Easter Season bring many blessings to you and your family.  Remember to always "Keep the Son in your eyes".
