Photo of the Week
October 13,  2002

This week's photo is that of the Ancon Commissary while still in operation.  The Ancon Commissary closed it's doors as a commissary in early 1957.  The commissary, including the annex, was assigned for use by the Personnel Bureau.  The building was remodeled for it's new function and is still standing today.  I and many others were processed in this building when getting our first jobs with PCC.

The little park in front of the commissary was called "Poinciana Plaza" and I see why as you can see the Royal Poinciana trees growing within.

Long live the memory of the Canal Zone.
