This is a scan of
a really classic photo that was published in the Winter 1978 issue of The
Panama Canal Review. The photo is two pages wide and couldn't capture
the entire photo. What is missing is the very large hook of the
Crane Hercules just to the left of the guy with the red T-Shirt.
This doesn't matter as what I wanted to capture in this photo is
complete. This photo has always been one of my favorites of the more
modern time photos showing American workers doing the down and dirty
work. The Panamanian work force eventually took over these jobs.
This was our job and we did it well for so many years. These men and
those before them are commended for the great job they did in making
sure the Panama Canal was in service at all times...
