Photo of the Week

 This week's photo is a classic old photograph from of my collection.  It shows a very early Canal transit.  This particular vessel is the "Advance", one of the Panama Steamship Line.  What I like the best of this old photo is the old construction town up on the top of the Canal's bank.  I am not sure which town this is.  The towns were moved slowly after the Canal opened while Balboa and other permanent towns were being established.  This ship glides through the still muddy waters of the Culebra Cut.  Many slides were still occurring at this time as the ground settles with the newly added water.
