Here is an old photo of a couple of guys swimming off buoy 71 in Gatun Lake. If my memory serves me right, buoy 71 is near Mamei Curve/ San Pablo Reach on the east side. 

This photo reminds me of many Zonians that have on occasion stopped by a buoy and swam off it.  The best part is climbing to the top and diving into the water.  I guess this past-time started way back in the early days of the Canal.  It appears that these guys must have been put on the buoy from the boat that the photographer is on.
