This photo tells it like it was back in the golden days of the Canal Zone.  I bet every Zonian kid did just what these youngsters are doing.  I remember my dad taking my brother and I to the Goethals monument many times.  This image came from an old 1950's vintage 35mm slide that I came across a while back.  Doesn't this photo put a smile on your face and bring back good memories?
