Continuing with the Canal Zone Scouting theme
that I will be posting until this year's Panama Canal Reunion here is
another fine historical photo taken at Balboa Stadium during a 4th of
July parade. Although the photo is not dated, it appears to be in
the 1920's by the type of uniform the scouts are wearing. This
photo shows the old covered bleachers that were original for the Balboa
Stadium. They were later modified to what most of us remember when
living there. There are alot of military present this day and a
military band is playing on the constructed platform near where the
pitchers mound would be. The track is set up with lines as a big
part of the 4th of July celebrations of this day was having track and
field meets. Cristobal scouts are passing in front of the
photographer when the photo was taken.
A great old sepia photo and capture
in time.
