Photo of the Week
November 29, 2015

This week we have a wonderful blast from the past!  This photo was taken from the Thatcher Ferry Bridge in the late 60's or early '70s of La Boca.  Shown in the lower portion of the photo is the Canal Zone College.  Looking up you can see the housing in it's pristine condition as all Canal Zone housing was.  Portions of the tank farm can be seen on the right and in the distance at the foot of Sosa Hill.  The oil tank on the left edge of the photo was the one that was painted like a Jack-o-Lantern each year.  Great view of the Administration Building in the distance and the roof of St. Mary's Church.  There are still multi housing to the right in Williamson Place which my family lived when I was born.

Wouldn't it be nice if all this was the same way today??!!

Bless our former Canal Zone and the memories we have of it.  Long live the Canal Zone.
