This week's photo is another PCC photo like last week's photo of the
week. This one was taken in 1955 of the new town of Margarita and
South Elementary School. It looks like they had a good student
population and that it was time to build a new school. I don't
remember what type of church the one in the picture was, but it was
still in operation many years later and may still be. You can see
the old Knights of Columbus building down Espave Avenue. The K of
C had the best burgers around when I lived on the Atlantic Side in the
early 70's. In the 80's, the Margarita Elementary was then owned
by the Army and the old school housed many of the Morale Welfare and
Recreation (MWR) offices within. I used to work there in the mid
80's while employed by the Army MWR. My office was the old school
principle's office. I wonder what this area looks like today.
