Photo of the Week
April 8, 2023

Here is a big memory maker for me.  Here is the Pacific Area Officers Open Mess (PAOOM) beach off the Amador Causeway.  This was back in it's glory days.  I worked as a lifeguard at this beach in the early 1970s and was a great experience.  It is low tide on this day.  During the dry season the Humboldt Current flowed through Panama Bay making the water cold, so cold, it drove the lobster into shallow water.  I used to take my breaks and lunch or after work to chase the bugs and catch them.  I could easily fill a ice chest each day with those delicious spiny lobster bugs.  Other times my co-worked Silvano and I would take our spear guns out to the shark net and harvest some nice fish like the one below.  Since the photo of the week is Amador Beach, I will throw a few old snaps of mine from the days I worked at the beach.  I can't believe I actually had that long of hair as I cannot stand having hair longer than a regular cut today.  The old hippie days..... lol.  Great memories at a place that no longer exists, but will always in my mind.
