Photo of the Week
April 5, 2022

We are taking a brief detour this week and going back in time.  After the construction of the Panama Canal, there was a need to transport people and vehicles across the Canal to the West Bank.  PCC  and the US Army came up a ferry made from an old barge and pushed across the Canal with a small tug or push boat.  The loading area on the East Bank was at the North End of Pedro Miguel locks.  I have posted the photo that is below before, but the one above is a new addition that was sent to me by CZ Contributor Allan Hawkins.  I don't know where he found it, but it is a super rare and great photo.  Thank you Allan for sending.  The small tug Bohio is tied up to take the barge ferry across the cut.  You can see one of the Bucyrus dipper dredges in the distance digging.
