Photo of the Week
December 1, 2019

I am late this week as I was in North Carolina visiting my brother in law for Thanksgiving and got home late yesterday.

While I was gone CZ Images contributor Allan Hawkins sent me this image.  The image on the left is one that I posted a while back as photo of the week and the image on the right is a photo that Allan took.  Allan wrote in his email:

"Tradition still in place, this gial is from Colón selling cakes or "queques""

I am glad to see that the cake ladies are still in  business.  Wow....what a historical tradition being carried on.  I am sure that this selling of cakes like this came over from the West Indies when the West Indians came over to work on the Railroad and Canals.

Thank you Allan.
