Photo of the Week
August 25, 2019

This week we are looking at a photo from the collection of Fay H. McCain who worked for the Isthmian Canal Commission (ICC) during the construction of the Canal starting in 1910 as a Railroad Car Steel Repairer.  A year later he was promoted to Steam Engineer Craneman  and then later once the Canal was completed, McCain Steam Engineer (Wrecker).  Evidently Fay was a camera bug and captured some very historic moments on film.  The photo this week is a super photo showing two steam cranes loading a brand new General Electric locks locomotive on a flat car destined to one of the locks.  I don't know if this pier is in Cristobal or Balboa.

What a great capture in time.  More of Fay's photos in the next few weeks.
