Continuing with the Diablo School building study. Above is a photo also taken by Bill Fall, but in 2007, seven years before last week's photos of the new building. This photo shows that the old building is surely showing signs of needing some help. Maintenance probably stopped when it was turned over to Panama. Note the front stairs have been removed. I love the old locks tie up bollards around the flag pole. These are the same type I have in front of my house here in the states. I wonder where they are today as I don't see them in the new building photos. The questions from last week where did the old building get torn down or did they rebuild onto it to create the new building. CZ Images contributor Bob Dillon solved the mystery and added a time line of things that happened there with use of Google Earth and it's time line slider which is new to me. I went on Google Earth and screen captured images of 2009, 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2019. With this study, the old building was torn down and the new one built during 2012 and 2013....so now we know that part. Another thing I noticed was the four family house across the street from the school which I have an arrow pointed to was torn down sometime between 2013 and 2016 to make way for what looks like a parking lot. I have another arrow pointing to what was a grassy area in the 2009 photo and then dug up in 2012 with a new building with a white roof being built shown in the 2013 photo when the big building was under construction. The other noteworthy thing which I have yet another arrow pointing to is the long red roof building behind the school being removed and the sports field converted into some parking area. Well there you have it.....the end history of Diablo School. Long live the memories of the Canal Zone era.
