Photo of the Week
December 23, 2018

This is what a 1913 Canal Construction Christmas tree looked like in the old town of Empire.  I wonder where they got their trees back then.  Note the old doll on the table.  These dolls had ceramic heads, arms and legs that were sewn onto a stuffed cloth body.  There is an apple on the table as well.  There was no TV or radio back then so books would be the source of entertainment and there are plenty present in this photo.  This photo came from  the photo album of Officer Williams, a Canal Zone Police during the construction days of the Canal.

As my homemade Christmas greeting states.....Wishing you a Merry Christmas with thoughts of home in the old Canal Zone.
