There has been discussion about the Atlantic side hospitals lately, so I thought I would post this classic early color post card of the original Colon Hospital.  The French originally built this hospital, but was in bad shape when the United States took over.  The Isthmian Canal Commission put the hospital back in good condition and expanded it to what is seen in this photo.  I don't know how long this hospital was in operation.  I scanned all my reference books, but there isn't much info on this hospital.  By the looks of things, if the patients got bored, they could go fishing...
