Photo of the Week
May 2, 1999
I found these photos the other day and thought I would put them up as a photo of the week. These were taken when I was the President (the last) of the Canal Zone Bottle Collectors Association (CZBCA) in 1979. Tom Duty the guy pictured on the left, also a CZBCA member, set up a meeting with Canal Zone Governor Parfitt. We went to the Governor's office to present him with one of our CZBCA official bottles. The bottle was a reproduction of the famous "Dog Bottle" and had Canal Zone Bottle Collectors Association embossed on the bottom of the bottle. Governor Parfitt was quite pleased with the gift and told us that this was the first time anyone came and gave him something. He figured we came to ask him for something. This was quite a privilege for me and will always treasure the moment. Governor Parfitt was our last Canal Zone Governor and a very good one at that. I wonder if he still has the bottle? The CZBCA dissolved this same year. Photos were taken by the PCC Graphics Branch and were published in the Spillway. |
