Very classy site! My own Panama web pages are kinda cheesy, but you'll find some interesting photos and (hopefully) a few laughs to ease the longing for the good old days. My time in Panama was in the late 1970s, when I was stationed at Howard AFB. My last visit as a civilian was Y2K.

I just got back from 2 long months in Panama where I had gone to visit my foster Grandparents, Faye and Preston Minton, in Coronado and inded up having to place them in the hospital. Faye is doing better now but she suffers from Alzheimer's. When I initially put her in the hospital she was suffering with severe malnutrition and Dehydration and various other ailments. Preston a month later was also taken to Hospital Nacional with very bad head injuries. the Dr.'s believe he had been hit with something. Like I said Faye is doing a lot better now but Preston is still in ICU now with pneumonia. I am asking for everyone to please say a prayer for the 2 of them. And anyone wanting to send flowers to Faye can do so to the Hospital Nacional Ave. Cuba & 38th – 39th Street, Panama City, Panama room 247

To all that know me I'm still in the Navy doing my 20 years. I currently been in for 6 years. I have two boys Jonathan and David Ages 4 and 2. I just got back from Panama a few weeks ago. It brought back a lot of memories. I glad to have found a little piece of Panama online. I hope to hear from some of those people that I knew.

Being born in the canal zone in 1978, I feel like I missed out on so much. Its great to read the stories and see the pictures. I can almost live it because I see all the old buildings every day and grew up in La Boca. Although it's no where near the same. I just wish I could make a time machine and go back and live those glorious days.

Bill This is my first posting with you, however, I view your site several times a week. When you don't post your picture of the week in a timely manner like you did this week, its a let down for me as I religiously look to see what you are going to post. This week, however I was overcome with exhilaration when you posted the Grand Opening of the Curundu Community Center and for that matter, the inauguration of the town back in 1943. I was unaware that the history of my hometown existed in such a condensed and informative manner. Needless to say, I have sent this post to as many of my Curundu brothers and sister as I could find. Keep up the good work. I take my hat of to you for the work on the site. It takes the kind of passion that you have to keep up the work. You have a ride on a launch on whatever leg of the Ocean to Ocean you want to cover on your next visit if it happens to coincide with the event. Ojala te veo en Panama el proximo verano.

I just got back from 2 long months in Panama where I had gone to visit my foster Grandparents, Faye and Preston Minton, in Coronado and ended up having to place them in the hospital. Faye is doing better now but she suffers from Alzheimer's (or better said Partial, because she does have her moments of remembering). Preston just got out of surgery a couple of days ago with a tracheotomy to help him breathe. Both Faye and Preston used to be members of the Diablo Camera Club since around the 1950s. She used to work in the Administration Bldg. And he work for the Dept. of transportation as a mechanic and also work for the Navy in Fort Amador. I am asking for everyone to please say a prayer for the 2 of them. And anyone wanting to send flowers to Faye can do so to the Hospital National Ave. Cuba & 38th - 39th Street, Panama City, Panama room 247

Hey there...nice website. It is hard to find quality sites on Fort Sherman...or even Panama for that matter. I was stationed at Howard AFB while in the Army in '99 right before it closed, and before that visited Fort Sherman for JOTC two times. If anyone can tell me what happened to Ft. Sherman now that it has closed, please email me! Panama was the time of my life...I have tried to visit every year since I got out in '99, this year will be the first year I have not gone back...I mostly go back to David and Bouquete...it is the closest place to heaven I know of down here...!
