From "EARSA Records" album - "Leroy Lewis' Panamá".
Sometime in the 1960s.

The organ and Leroy Lewis are synonymous.  Persons fortunate enough to have heard this fine young musician perform, know.  It just goes without saying.
Panama City, Surf City, Trenton, Cape Canaveral, New York City, Philadelphia, Miami or regardless of where Leroy Lewis may be performing, or what type of organ he may be playing, his great talent and ability make an unforgettable impression on all.
One of the most distinctive features of Lewis' performance is that he rarely plays a selection the same way twice.  Versatility, variety and an uncanny feeling for all types of music and people, coupled with showmanship, are evident with this artist.
Continually introducing something new and different, whether it be a new arrangement or an addition to the instrument being played, he is spectacular in every sense of the word.
In this album, Lewis plays the Mighty Wurlitzer and the selections that he has chosen are a few of the popular numbers that are continually requested in the Republic of Panama.  The Mighty Wurlitzer used for this album is a large residence installation and was selected with this recording in mind.

The Mighty Wurlitzer that is mentioned on the album jacket is the famous Wurlitzer that we all listened to in the Hotel Panama.  I am very happy to have this album that my Dad purchased a long time ago.  I had many a wonderful night sitting and listening to Leroy at the Hotel Panama.  We all use to end up there after High School Proms or a Saturday night out on the town.

Those of you that attended the Panama Canal Society Annual Reunion in the '90s could still hear the music of Leroy Lewis at the PanaZonian dance held on Friday night.  Leroy on his Hammond B3 Organ and his group played to the crowd's enjoyment.  The 1999 Reunion was the last that  Leroy Lewis played at.  He was ill at this time and just couldn't make it to the 2000 Reunion in Tampa.

The November 1, 2000 issue of the Orlando Sentinel's obituary section featured an article about the death to cancer of a 65 year old master organist named Leroy Norman Lewis.

Thanks Leroy for those many many years of wonderful music you provided to all of us Zonians.

May you rest in peace and God Bless.
