First Official Canal Transit
S.S. Ancon
August 15, 1914

The S.S. Ancon in Culebra Cut. Aboard this vessel were 50,000 bronze commemorative medals.

Front of commemorative medal serial number 10076.

I have blown these images up large enough so that you can read the embossing. The actual medal is about the size of a fifty cent piece. This medal was one of the 50,000 medals aboard the S.S. Ancon on that historic transit in the Panama Canal.

Images not to scale.
