We should be celebrating our 50th HS
Reunion this year (2020), but instead we are dealing with COVID-19. My
heart goes out to our classmates that have left us, and my prayers are
that you and yours remain safe and healthy. May 20, 1970, woo hoo, graduation from BHS. I spent
the summer working at USGS before leaving with my 2 suitcases to attend
the University of New Mexico. In 1972, I returned to the CZ for 1
semester at CZC. Then I went to Quito, Ecuador for a year, school and
travel. I returned to NM to complete my degree, Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree. If you knew me in high school, you would know that I never took
an art class. I was a math and science gal. I was a bit rebellious when
I got stateside. I graduated from UNM in 1975, job wise working at
getting nowhere with my art degree. I returned to school to study
something more practical; math, engineering, and construction. I stayed
in NM working for several engineering companies over the years, met my
husband, Rick (d. 1987), and had one son, Brett. In 2001, I went Federal
working for the Dept. of Transportation in Vancouver, Washington. I
retired in 2018 and moved to colorful Colorado to be close to my son and
granddaughter. I enjoy traveling and collecting postcards. Whether
it’s a road trip, flying somewhere, or receiving postcards from all
parts of the world from friends and past co-workers. My travel
highlights are hitchhiking for 2 months thru Peru (1974), visiting the
Alhambra, Granada, Andalusia, Spain (1997), sailing off the coast of
Maine on a tall ship (2001), experiencing the tulips in Amsterdam
(2019), and given permission to tour my house at Amador (2019) which
houses the office of the Parlamento CentroAmericano Subsede Panama.
Almost 50 years later, what memories visiting my house brought! My
parents bedroom is the Administrator’s office, living room is a
conference room, and seeing my old bedroom. The last reunion I attended was in 2005 in Panama.
This year I had planned on attending both, Panama, and Orlando. 2021
will be better. See you then! Stay
safe and healthy! Thanks, Bill, for maintaining our class website
over the last 50 years though many are on FB, I’m not.
