Photo of the Week
November 7,  2010

This week's photo is a photo from the same collection as last week's photo.  Another very unique photo taken (according to Kibby Bouche's narration about the photo) is what they called the Community Building in Balboa.  According to Kibby, he actually was in this building a few times.  It was located towards the end of Carr St. across from the Balboa School and entrance to Morgan Ave.  He said that this building was either an old house or office building converted into this community building.  He said that part of this building had rooms for rent were people lived.  After converting the building, there were performances by bands, theater plays, and a great place for meetings.  In this photo is shows a large group of women in their finest clothes and very fancy hats.  There are all kinds of tropical plants and shrubs decorating the walls and windows.  This group could have been the Balboa Women's Club with all the big-shots wives attending.

What a great moment in history.
