Photo of the Week I smiled when I found this photo in the Warren H. Smith collection. The scene is the Locks Line Handlers on break in their building at Pedro Miguel Locks. They would wait in this building until it was time to board another transiting ship. The favorite pastime was playing checkers. When we were out cruising around either in the day or night to Gamboa or other haunts of ours, when we got thirsty, we would say...."Let's get a nickel coke" and we would head over to the line handler's building and get some nickel cokes out of the Coke machine in the building. These were the small Coca Cola bottles and were so cold and sweet. Strangest things we used to find back in the day....
