After graduation in '70 I attended the Canal Zone College
for two years and then headed off to the states to finish my education. Three more colleges and many years later I am a writer and own an educational consulting firm. I write children's books, educational books for teachers, and I'm working on a novel for young adults on the Civil War. I'm married to Dr. Richard Forney who teaches pacemaker technology and other cardiac devices here in Greenville, South Carolina. My son is 22 years old, majored in opera at LSU, and sings with the Ohio Light Opera. My daughter is 18 and headed for college this fall. I've visited the Canal Zone several times since graduation, and it never fails to bring back treasured memories. Does anyone remember how good those empanadas were they sold on the train to the other side? Goofy Falls? Water skiing in the lake? The Ft. Clayton fair? If I close my eyes and concentrate I can hear the exact sound of the band and the crowd at a BHS/CHS football game. Where has all the time gone? |
